Edulantern.com - In 2018, ASEF Young Leaders Summit returns to the heartbeat of its existence: to understand, define and develop leadership among young people – by young people. In the previous year, the forum has invited over 200 students and young professionals from all 51 ASEM partner countries. ASEFYLS3 is for young people who are willing to critically reflect, re-imagine and shape the notion of leadership — starting from themselves, within their communities and on an Asia-Europe scale.

Activities:
The ASEFYLS3 programme consists of 3 stages:
1. Online preparatory phase
First glimpse into the 11 thematic angles through knowledge tickling webinars, individual and group tasks linked to leadership and collaboration techniques
2. (a) 4-Day Conference in Brussels, Belgium
Deep-dive into the topic, intense exchange of insights and ideas in plenary sessions, small-group discussions, as well as action-plan development, interactive mentorship and workshop sessions
(b) Connections with the 12th ASEM Summit (ASEM12)
One-to-one meetings between ASEFYLS3 representatives and Heads of States and Delegates of ASEM12
3. Spin-off activities
Implementation of committed spin-off activities by ASEFYLS3 participants across Asian and European Communities.
Benefits:
1. No registration or participation fee.
2. A travel subsidy for participants travelling from abroad, from your country of residence to Brussels (Belgium) and back. The subsidy could also cover local transportation (home – airport – home). The travel subsidy amount will be announced to the selected participants in their confirmation letter.
3. Accommodation and meals will be provided during the conference as indicated in the programme.
4. Insurance and visa fee (if applicable) could
be covered under the offered travel subsidy.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Citizens of any of the 51 Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) partner countries (Click to see list of ASEM Partners).
2. Young professionals and students between 18-30 years.
3. Strong command on English (verbal and written).
4. Action-oriented and creative doers ranging from students and academics, to young professionals and entrepreneurs from all societal sectors.
5. Applicants who are ready and available to actively participate in a 8-week online preparatory phase, 4 days on-site phase and followed by a postproject phase composed of alumni led online and offline initiatives.
