Edulantern.com - CERN-UNESCO School on Digital Libraries 2018 is held by The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from 8 to 12 October 2018 in Nairobi University, Kenya.

The purpose of this program is to deepen understanding of digital libraries, emphasize a set of principles related to open access, and expose new trends in scientific publishing.

- Overview of open software solutions for operation of digital libraries, in particular Invenio
- Introduction to relevant APIs and web technologies
- Cataloguing formats
- Persistent identifier systems
- Available information resources
- Open access principles
- Opportunities for developing countries
- Operation of institutional repositories

Benefits:
CERN-UNESCO School on Digital Libraries 2018 is fully funded, including travel, meals, accommodation, health insurance and visa insurances (for non-Kenyan participants). For participants working in Kenya, only meals and accommodation provided.
Eligibility:
1. This program is open to librarian and IT information specialists working with libraries.

2. Open from all African countries.

3. Preferences will be given to duos, consisting of one librarian and one IT specialist, both working in the same academic environment, have 5-15 years of experience.

4. Proficiency in both verbal and written English (a certificate of English competency for applicants for non-anglophone countries will be required).
