Eligibility Criteria

  1. Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
    Current undergraduate students must be on track to complete all degree requirements by August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. While there are no restrictions on undergraduate majors, applicants are encouraged to explain how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will enhance their leadership potential in their chosen field.
  2. Age Requirement
    Candidates must be at least 18 but not older than 29 as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.
  3. English language proficiency
    Strong English language skills are necessary, as all instruction is conducted in English. Non-native English speakers must submit official scores from approved English proficiency tests, such as:
  •  Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT). Minimum score 100.
  •  International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Minimum score 7.
  •  Cambridge English: Advanced (C1) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2). Minimum score 185.
This requirement may be waived for applicants who completed their undergraduate studies in English or who have studied in English for two or more years at the Master's level or higher.

 
Required Documents (softcopy)

  1. Current resume/CV.
  2. Two essays. The two required essays are a Leadership Essay (750 words) and a Statement of Purpose (500 words). The essays are a critical component of the application, designed to help the selection committee understand you as an individual and get a sense of your leadership abilities/potential, as well as your writing and analytical skills.
  3. Official transcripts for each degree-granting post-secondary education institution you attended.
  4. Three Letter of Recommendation. Recommenders should know you well and be able to speak to your intellectual abilities, personal characteristics, and leadership potential using specific examples from their direct experience working with you.
  5. Provide a short video self-introduction of no more than 1 minute. Introduce yourself in any style or setting you think best conveys your interests and personality. The point of this recording is to allow the committee to hear you introduce yourself in your own voice and style.
Note: If transcripts are not in English, official translations must be included.

After successfully completing the summer school, students will receive an official transcript and 2 academic credits from Tsinghua University.

Benefits:
The scholarship covers the following:
- Registration fee
- Tuition fee
- Housing (on-campus accommodation for international students for the two-week period, mainly en-suite single rooms)
- Basic accident insurance for the two-week period in Beijing

Scholarship students are required to cover their own airfare costs, and adequate personal medical insurance for their stay in China, as required by both Tsinghua University and Chinese visa applications.
Global Cultural Leadership Programme in Amsterdam for International Youth, 2018
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Must be at least 18 but no more than 30 years of age as of July 15th, 2018.

2. Be currently attending college/university.

3. Be in good health.

4. Because the program is conducted in English, students are required to provide proof of English proficiency if their first language or teaching language in home institution is not English. Provide one of the following documents as reference:
- IELTS  (a score of 6.5 or above)
- TOEFL  (a score of 85 or above)
- Other (such as a letter of reference from your institution to prove that your English ability is of a sufficient enough level for learning and communication)
